Digital Product Passports for furniture and mattresses

Furniture and mattresses are priority product groups in the ESPR work programme.

Data to prepare Manufacturers can map product identifiers, wood and panel types, metals, fabrics, foams and fillings, relevant chemicals, durability tests, repair instructions, spare-part availability and disassembly information.

Wood origin Wood traceability can overlap with other EU due-diligence requirements. Keeping species, origin and certification information in a structured source reduces repeated supplier requests.

Supplier roles Timber and board suppliers may provide species and origin data; textile and foam suppliers may provide composition and chemical declarations; component suppliers provide material specifications.

The final DPP fields depend on product-specific rules. A practical first step is a bill-of-materials and supplier map for each product family, linked to supporting documents.
