When does the Digital Product Passport become mandatory? Sector overview

There is no single DPP deadline for every product. Timing depends on the legislation and product-specific rules.
Three important legal frameworks - ESPR, Regulation (EU) 2024/1781: the general ecodesign framework for many product groups. - Battery Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542: contains dedicated battery-passport provisions. - Construction Products Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2024/3110: creates a digital information framework for construction products.
Batteries: the clearest timetable From February 2027, specified categories including EV batteries, LMT batteries and industrial batteries above 2 kWh require a battery passport.
Other sectors Textiles, iron and steel, aluminium, furniture and mattresses are priority areas under the ESPR work programme. Product-specific delegated acts determine final data fields and application dates. A work-programme year is not the same as a mandatory DPP date.
Why prepare early? Customers may request structured material, facility, certificate and carbon information before legal deadlines because they need time to prepare their own systems.
