Step by step: the first passport (about 15 minutes)

    Add a product
    Products → Add product. Name, model code, product type, HS code, care instructions, durability test and fibre composition (100%). For many products upload Excel/CSV; columns are matched automatically.

    Open a batch
    "New batch" on the product page: quantity, production date, buyer brand. With "copy last batch" ticked, previous data is carried over.

    Enter your own fields
    On the batch page: country of manufacture, facility, recycled content. Completeness and the missing list update instantly.

    Request from suppliers
    Fibre origin and certificate from the fabric supplier; ZDHC/SoC/water from the dyer. "Request data" → send the link via WhatsApp.
  5. 5
    Link documents
    Documents → type, number, issuer, validity; tick the related models. Upload the file and use "Read from document" to get suggestions. You are warned 60 days before expiry.

    Publish
    At 100% click "Publish and create QR". Download QR PNG/SVG, print the label PDF. The passport page opens in 4 languages.
  7. 7
    Send to the brand
    JSON, CSV or Excel; in the brand's template if one exists. Bulk export on the Export page.

Roles and security

  • Owner: company settings, user invitations/roles, everything.
  • Editor: enters products, batches, documents; publishes.
  • Viewer: reads and downloads only.

Enable 2FA under Settings → Security (Google/Microsoft Authenticator). Passwords are stored with argon2; sessions expire after 7 days.

Frequently asked questions

What is a digital product passport (DPP)?

An online record under the EU Ecodesign Regulation (ESPR, (EU) 2024/1781) showing a product's identity, content, manufacturer and documents. The QR code on the product opens this page. Batteries (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542) and construction products (Regulation (EU) 2024/3110) also have passport rules. Mandatory fields per product group are set by further acts; OrigoPass uses today's preparatory schemas and keeps them up to date.

Is the passport per product or per batch?

OrigoPass creates one passport and QR code per production batch by default. Model data is entered once, with batch details added separately. Per-item serialised QR codes can also be generated. The legally required identification level depends on the rules for each product group.

What if there is no GTIN?

No problem. With a GTIN the passport URL uses GS1 Digital Link (/01/GTIN/10/batch); without it OrigoPass creates a permanent ID (/id/…). The QR works either way.

How does the supplier link work?

"Request data" for the fabric or dyeing supplier on the batch page creates a single-use link valid 30 days. The supplier fills only the requested fields on their phone without signing in. Answers land on the batch as a supplier declaration.

Can I change data after publishing?

Yes. Edit the batch and click "Publish new version": v2, v3… are created. URL and QR do not change; old versions are kept. A SHA-256 digest is stored for each version: it lets anyone check that published data has not changed, but it does not prove the declaration is accurate.

Who sees what on the passport page?

Public view: identity, composition, care, country of manufacture, certificate names, manufacturer contact. Authorized view (signed-in company): facility, supplier and declaration details. The page carries "Manufacturer declaration"; it is not an independent verification.

Is my data deleted?

No. Records are archived, never deleted; every change is written to the audit log with who, when, old and new value.

How does reading from documents work?

Upload the file (PDF/JPG/PNG) and click "Read from document": AI extracts certificate type, number, issuer, validity and composition as suggestions. Nothing is written until you approve each field.

ESPR
Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation — (EU) 2024/1781, the legal basis of the digital product passport.
Delegated act
EU regulation under ESPR that fixes the fields and dates for each product group.
GTIN
GS1 global trade item number (barcode). 8–14 digits.
GLN
GS1 location number; company/facility identifier.
GS1 Digital Link
Standard URL format in the QR: /01/GTIN/10/batch[/21/serial].
HS code
Customs tariff code, e.g. 6109.10.00.
ZDHC MRSL
Restricted substances list compliance for dyehouse chemicals.
SoC
